Women on Farms Gatherings
Background to WOF Gatherings
The first WOFG was held in Warragul in 1990. The aim was to look at the “challenges faced by women on the land, to share skills, information and experience, and to help each other grow.”
In 1999 the tenth WOFG was again held in Warragul, featuring “a celebration of the ongoing contribution of farming women while meeting the challenges in the agricultural sector in the future.”
2009 provided the challenges, after years of low rainfall then devastating bushfires throughout Victoria; over 250 women came together for the 20th WOFG in Warragul. Together they listened to women’s stories, connected with both old and new friends and had a much needed break away.
2019 the 30th Women on Farms Gathering was again held at Warragul. Women farming the land, those interested in agriculture, the environment, food production, rural tourism and more were all encouraged to come along and join us for a wonderful weekend.
The 2023 Victorian Women on Farms Gathering
was held in Yarram on the 24th-26th March.
Thank you so much to the Yarram community for hosting the weekend. Special thanks to the small committee, their families and the community groups who all worked together to put on a wonderful weekend enabling rural women to connect with one another.
